Family of Theresa Y. Banks & Jacques T. Banks

Theresa devoted 30 years to educating the children of Charles County. The entirety of her teaching career was in the Charles County Public School System, starting at Wayside Elementary and concluding at Mt. Hope Elementary. She was known to be stern and orderly. Her dedication to education is only overshadowed by her commitment to the overall care of her students. She was totally invested in the community, teaching 2 and 3 generations of some families. Theresa truly believed that the key to being a successful and productive member of society is grounded in a good education. She would be pleased to know that her legacy is to help further the education of a worthy student in the community she loved.

Theresa had a strong love for Black History and sharing how it fit into American History. She enjoyed traveling, visiting several African countries, cruising in Alaska and other adventures. She was an avid seamstress, designing and creating clothes for herself, her family, and her church family. The cornerstone of her success is rooted in her faith, and belief that loving God requires unconditional love for all of God’s people.
