The Weaver Family & La Plata Physical Therapy

The Weaver Family & La Plata Physical Therapy

Michael André Weaver, Jr. was a patient at La Plata Physical Therapy, from 2008 to 2017, due to his diagnosis of Spastic Quadriplegia Cerebral Palsy. From birth, Michael endured the challenges of his disabilities throughout his 23 years of life. Through the support and dedication from his family, Michael enjoyed life, was very inspirational, and was always committed to give his best effort.

Michael was more than a patient at La Plata Physical Therapy. He became “family” to all those who came to know him. Not only did he touch the lives of the Physical Therapists, Physical Therapy Assistants, Aides, and other La Plata Physical Therapy staff members, he was also embraced by fellow patients at the clinic because of his friendly greetings, his caring conversations, and his infectious smiles.

Impact

Michael was a kind and humble person who always looked beyond his individual challenges to see the positives that life presented. The Michael André Weaver, Jr. Memorial Scholarship is being established, by La Plata Physical Therapy, to assist Physical Therapy Assistant students, at the College of Southern Maryland, realize their passion, potential, and future in Physical Therapy. This scholarship is being established to help with financial assistance for tuition, books, and other fees that the student may incur. Students receiving this assistance should be inspired by Michael’s zest to enjoy life, his empathy for others, his love of family, and his ability to look beyond personal challenges.
