The Zonta Club of Southern Maryland
The Zonta Club of Charles County partnered with the College of Southern Maryland (CSM) Foundation in 2012 to establish the Zonta RAVE Walk Scholarship in Memory of Gayle A. Cooke. This award provides financial assistance to CSM students who are Southern Maryland residents and survivors of domestic abuse or sexual assault. The sole purpose of this scholarship is to assist the survivor in becoming independent and self-sufficient by completing a degree or certificate that will allow them to secure employment and financial stability. Funds for this scholarship are raised through Zonta’s annual Rave and Violence Eradication (RAVE) Walk fundraiser, dedicated to the memory of Gayle A. Cooke. Ms. Cooke was an active community volunteer and the Crime Victims Support Coordinator for the Charles County State’s Attorney’s Office.
