Thomas V. Mike Miller, Jr. Leadership Scholarship

The purpose of the Thomas V. Mike Miller Jr. Leadership Academy is to foster the development of ethical, responsible, civic-minded student leaders through education, empowerment and a commitment to service. Upon completion of the Academy, students will receive a Miller Leadership Scholarship, a CSM Certificate of Completion, and will be eligible to apply for the Maryland Community College Statewide Leadership Certification.

The course is organized around major themes including Identifying Personal Values and Core Beliefs, Leadership Styles, Effective Communication, Conflict Management, Diversity and Inclusion, Goal Setting, and Service Learning. Each module introduces concepts using readings and videos, provides self-assessments to help you understand your own values, characteristics and strengths, and ends with a reflection piece to apply these principles by examining and identifying leadership qualities that provide a foundation for the development of an ethical, transformational leader.
